About Lisbon Airport
The International Lisbon Airport is situated in the
north of Castle of Sao Jorge, in the capital of
Portugal, Lisbon.
This airport is considered the most important and
busiest of Portugal and one of the largest airports in
Southern Europe. Being the main base-tub of TAP Portugal
(the national airline of Portugal), the airport has two
main runways and continues to expand.
The fact that Lisbon Airport is located 7 km north of
Lisbon facilitates the connections with other airports
not only in Portugal, but also in Europe at large.
In 2010, the experts estimated that the airport handled
over 14 millions of passengers.
Well equipped, the airport allows passengers’ access to

Inaugurated in October 1941 with four runways each of
1000 meters, today it has more extended runways with

airport has two main terminals: the main building,
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Once the
second Terminal was finished, new plans of expansions
include parking facilities, an underground metro station
and the building of new air bridges.
